Spiderman Cookie Favors

I love love love doing new characters.... I was super excited to be doing yet another totally awesome boy favor cookie. Weeks ago I did transformers and used a transfer method...(like the one used to make monogram letters, wax paper, picture... the whole nine yards) Well, I thought I was going to have to do the same thing here for spiderman's eyes but turns out I was a bit of a pro.... lol. Here's the finished product. Pretty sweet, Right??

Thanks Shandy!!

Come inside, its fun inside!!

So, I've had dozens and dozens of requests for Minnie Mouse favors, matter o fact I have another 4 dozen this coming Sunday.(wooooo) don't get me wrong I love Minnie but Geeze what about Mickey. Well I stuck my foot in my mouth on that one. Lol. I love my repeat customers and Ms. Akia W. throws the best parties for her little ones. This year her sons 3 rd bday theme was Mickey Mouse Club House and I got to do his favors. Yeah. Akia wanted pops, mini favors, and..... candied apples. So I began searching and found Disney makes these fabo Mickey and Minnie apples. Looked simple enough (that I didn't need to test before hand) so I agreed and took the order. She only wanted a few and I was soooooo glad after I began making them. Ok ok ill get to it so you know just how difficult these things were to make.

First.... Gather your Ingredients!!!

Then Prep Everything.... ((still the easy part))
Wash your apples, poke them with lolli sticks, and begin to wrap them in caramel....

Following the package directions, wrap, stretch, and smooth the caramel wraps on each apple.
After baking at 200 for 5 min, the caramel looks oooie and gooie, and just a bit bumpy, lol.
freaked me out for a min there. I just smoothed these later for even choc application.

Next comes the Chocolate.... My favorite part!!

I shaved about 16oz milk chocolate and melted it in a double boiler until smooth and creamy...

While my chocolate was melting and caramel was cooling, I took my marshmallows and began to stick them to my apples. They don't stick to well on their own so I used toothpicks to help. ((remember to remove them after you are done)) Wooden skewers work also. I didn't get a picture of them at this point... probably because I was freaking out at this point.
Chocolate stirring with one hand, while I ward off the baby and husband from eating all the un used sweets.

I felt like just chowing down on the apples and calling it a night... But the show must go on.
So here's what I did next...
I began to dip apples in chocolate :0)

After letting them dry, I found a few runny spots, so I just dipped again, and again, and again...
Until I was happy with the finish.
Lets just say they were really full of chocolate. lol...

Now again at this point I was trying to get my apples picture perfect, and not worrying about actually taking the pictures, so again no pictures.... But Ill explain as best as possible.....
when the chocolate is dry, 20-30 min in the fridge

remove them and chip the little bottom layer off (the drip where the apple sat)
this works best if you use a sharp knife and leave the apple in the standing position. Hold it steady and press down with your knife. Waalah. Definitely after getting this far you do not want to mess up ((again))

Now comes the fun part.... making Mickey Pants.
The recipe calls for thin white icing. I think melted white candy coating would work best...
for this exact reason....
see how uneven my red line is. ((I later fixed this))
Its uneven because the icing wouldn't stick to the chocolate.... very frustrating at this time lol.
To achieve this, I dipped the whole apple in the white icing (use melted white candy coating, for better application) and then in the sugar sprinkles. Placed it on a med cupcake liner and waalah. Let this sit in the fridge for a few until its hardens.

I then added little white candy wafers as buttons ((after breathing and consuming a glass of wine, cleaning the chocolate and sugar off of everything, and staring off into space for 30 min))
These apples got the best of me this night...
Akia said they were beautiful, and I did excellent work... I think I did also.
Here is my finished product, all wrapped pretty and ready to go.

Thanks Akia and Happy 3rd Bday Joe Jr.!!

Homemade Fudge Brownies

When ever I have a craving for chocolate, I always go on a pantry raid. Today I just so happened to have enough eggs to make Homemade Fudge Brownies. I did, only have enough eggs to make two more batches of cookie dough until the morning when I could get to the store to re supply my fridge. But I figured I could worry about that tomorrow. I WANT CHOCOLATE!! I have never made homemade brownies, I always pick them up from the grocery store while my mind wanders in the isles. So I figured I would give it a shot..... So,  now I'm listening to the oven timer waiting patiently and they smell wonderful. While my little one is licking the bowl, Ill leave you all with the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup walnut halves

Directions
  1. Melt the butter or margarine and mix all ingredients in the order given.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 to 30 minutes in a 9 x 13 inch greased pan.

I melted the butter first, and in a separate bowl mixed all the dry ingredients.
While the butter cooled (you don't want scrambled eggs) I mixed all the wet and A few minutes later I added the butter to the mixer, gave the batter a quick whip... and prepared my baking pans :0)

I chose to put my brownies in muffin tins and my little one added sprinkles. Using a regular size ice cream scoop, I filled each tin with one scoop... and sprinkles. Popped them into the oven at 350 and baked them for only 20 min. They came out chewy and fudgy. YumO.

Hope you all enjoy :0)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Even though St. Patrick's Day was on Yesterday I decided to show you all the ONLY St. Patrick's cookie I did. Yesterday was also my good friend SugarLOVE's 26th bday. So Instead of making dozens of clovers and leprechauns, I thought she would like a few St. Patties themed treats. I used the fudgy chocolate cookie recipe. The same one featured on a blog I enjoy following. Well with out further ado.....

Happy 26th Bday SugarLOVE and Happy St. Patties Day Everyone!!!

Using Two Cutters... To Create One!!!

This weekend I got the cutest order for a new moms babyshower. The theme was Buttons, Bears, and Bows.....

So I went on the search for cutters, after rumbling through buckets of the things I came to the conclusion that I did not have a Bow cookie cutter.

Usually I run to the local Hobby Lobby and search there, and If I can not find it I begin to search the internet.

((I have a few favorite sites, that Ill post later!!))

But with the order being so soon there was no way I could get the cutter in time. So as I sat digging through the buckets of cutters, I thought... what does a Bow look like..... Well duhh..... It looks like a butterfly.

Bingo...

Heres what I did!!!

First I found a butterfly cutter that would make a good size bow....

and a cutter with pointy right angles... I was also making #2 cookies so this is the one I had on hand.... You could use any cutter with right angles.....

I then rolled out my dough and started to cut out Butterflies.....

I used the angled cutter to take off the end of the butterfly.... creating a bow shape.

From here I baked , cut, and baked some more.... A grand total of 7Dozen!
Needless to say its been a very long night... Here are the finished cookies. Cant wait for the new mommie to see them!!! Enjoy the shower girls, and Thanks for your order :0)
